Beautiful Girls

March 22, 2016 Tim Farr

Hi There!

I recently had the pleasure of shooting three sisters all in the same day. This was after shooting their mother's headshots a couple of weekends before. I'm suspicious that mom had been planning to get headshots for these young ladies (even if she didn't know it yet), but our session put it over the top whatever the case.

These three were such a blast to shoot! Each girl had her own personality (and doesn't everyone deserve one of those of their very own). They each approached the shoot in their own way, and took ownership of their individual shoots. They were also interested in what was happening with their sister. It was such a pleasure to work with this family, especially because I was able to keep up with them and the energy they brought to the studio. There's always room for at least one more strong personality in my studio than is already there. :)

These girls will always be welcome back in the studio! :)

I would love to photograph you (even if you don't bring your whole family along). You can click Booking above to send me a message and we'll get started planning your shoot!

Best,

Jamie

Lazy J

March 7, 2016 Tim Farr

It was back in last April that I shot for Molly of Lazy J Lifestyle for the first time. It was also around that time that I started doing these postings about my shoots. In fact, that first shoot with Molly was featured in my very first posting to this recent shoots page.

Molly and I met (again) through a project I started about a year back. I decided that I was going to reach out to some of the people I'd met over the years. I worked my way through many business cards and email addresses, and wrote Molly in the process. We eventually figured out how we had crossed paths before, and started talking about how Molly would need photography for her clothing line. Long story short, Molly has quite the sense for a particular slice of the west coast lifestyle and she shows this through some really cute shirts and tops.

So now we arrive in the present. I recently shot for Molly for the third time. And I'll say honestly that I'm very, very proud of the results. Molly and I had done our individual preparation, as well as working together on a Pinterest board to get the mood fleshed out, and all of that preparation paid off (preparation always does, I've found). Our models, Alexa and Melanie, were absolutely gorgeous and were ideal models for the shoot. And our makeup artist and stylist, Dahlia and Rebecca, totally brought the shoot to life. We all also used the shoot locations, Redondo Beach and Hermosa Beach, to really capture what we envisioned as the result of the shoot.

Everyone involved did a fantastic job; I couldn't be happier with the results of the shoot! :)

Thank you for taking the time to look over these shots. And don't be a stranger! I'd love to start putting together a shoot with you too! Just drop me a line (you can click "Booking" above), and we'll get started planning!

Best,

Jamie

Georgina Reilly

December 1, 2015 Tim Farr

I'm lucky. I'll say that right here and now. But, don't let me get ahead of myself. :)

As my job, I get to take beautiful photos of people. I love most when I get to develop an idea with them from beginning to end.

Now, when I say beautiful, I mean the entire person, inside and out. When things are done right, all of the versatility, capability, energy and life a person has on the inside comes through, and that's magic. And so it was with Georgina Reilly.

Georgina hired me to photograph her differently than she'd previously been photographed. She'd had some ideas brewing and wanted to convert these ideas into photographs. Moving to America after having a successful career in Canadian television, she wanted to have editorial style photographs that conveyed all that she had to give to her art. The funny thing is, while the final shots may be different than what she'd previously shot, they're not all that different from who Georgina really is. The shoot was actually her. What we ended up doing was allowing the aforementioned versatility, capability, energy and life come through. How, you ask? Well that's what I do.

I'll make you a wager: if you don't like how you look in photos, you probably aren't as comfortable as you could be. Simple, right? Easier to say something about it than do something about it? That's why I work with my clients (from beginning to end) to make them comfortable. It's sort of like being uncomfortable is a mask. Take that mask off and what do you have?

That's right, boys and girls. What you have left is you.

Now, before, I said I was lucky. Here's why: I get to see the shots between the shots. With Georgina injecting herself into the shots that we had planned, I got to see the shades of grey as she moved from one to the next, in addition to the beautiful finished shots, with everything she's got shining through in all. And the amazing thing is that if you do it right, everything you shoot is just about as close as you can get to the actual person as you can in a photograph.

And now, on with the show:

I loved this shoot. I'm sure it shows. :)

Thank you for taking the time to look over this shoot. And if you've decided you would like to see what you look like in front of a camera when you're totally comfortable, take the plunge and click Booking at the top of this page. I'm sure we'll have a blast.

Best,

Jamie

P.S. And if you're not on my mailing list yet... What the heck are you waiting for!? You'll get some inspiration right to your inbox. And who couldn't use a little more of that?
